Luxembourg Ambassador to the United States, Madam Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian Visits Chicago!
The LBA proudly hosted the Luxembourg Ambassador to the United States, Madam Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian this past weekend in Chicago. On Friday, Grand President George Jones, Section 3 President Paul Krantz, and Grand Historian Dick Witry led the Ambassador on a tour of neighborhoods settled by Luxembourg immigrants. They visited Memorial Park in Skokie where Section 3 has many members buried, then visited St. Martha Church in Morton Grove, St. Peter church and cemetery in Skokie, Urhausen’s Greenhouse in Lincolnwood, and St. Henry cemetery in Chicago. On Saturday we enjoyed a boat and river tour, and an evening dinner at The American Luxemburger Club (“Luxies”) in Aurora, where the Ambassador was presented with Honorary Membership, a City of Aurora flag, and other gifts. We enjoyed a meatloaf dinner, and Madam Ambassador picked the winning Queen of Hearts ticket for a lucky member! On Sunday, the Ambassador attended mass at Holy Child Jesus Parish, a church built by Luxembourg immigrants, where Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich blessed and dedicated the statue of our Lady of Luxembourg. Following mass, Ambassador Binter-Bakshian attended our annual Scobermesse Festival in Morton Grove, IL. The LBA extends its gratitude to Madam Ambassador Bintner-Bakshian for spending the weekend with us!
